Meeting Information

     The North Western Illinois Chapter holds a meeting on the fourth Saturday of each month, except June and December. We meet at St. Marks Lutheran Church at 675 North Mulford Road in Rockford, IL. Regular meetings begin with the doors open by 7 PM, a short business meeting starting at 7:30 and the main program to follow. There will usually be time for members in attendance to share any railroad news, news slides, or or participate in a mini-feature. Details on those events will be provided. For a detailed description of the featured show at the meeting, see below.

     Effective with the October, 2011 meeting, we began offering sales tables prior to Chapter meetings.
     Table reservations must be made with the chapter president one month in advance. Current plans will have 10 tables available per meeting at $5.00 per table. Availability will be first reserved-first served.

John Dziobko; Annual slide presentation.
February 25
Robert Schmidt, Topic -"Trains of North Western Station & Grand Central Station" will look at passenger train operations from these two Chicago train stations from 1940 to 1971. Railroads featured will include C&NW, B&O, Pere Marquette (C&O), Soo Line and CGW.

Jason Leverton, Topic- "How Do You Like Me Now?" Photo#1, Photo #2

"Most presentations of Jason's feature trains from a bygone era, but this month's presentation will feature photos taken by Jason over the past year or so. Don't worry, you'll still see some F units, E units, and plenty of first and second generation diesel power, as Jason captures some of the area's more interesting operations on the IC&E, Wisconsin & Southern, Keokuk Junction, Iowa Interstate, UP's Troy Grove and Evansville branch line trains, and others. You'll also see some steam action, including the UP 844 in Missouri, as well as the Nickel Plate 765 and IAIS steamers at Rail Fest last year. Heritage units, Amtrak detours, flood detours, snowbusting, windmill trains, combine trains, sunset shots, and a few unique digitally-modified photos will also be included. We all love the golden era of railroading, but what is here is what we have..and railroads are asking, "How do you like me now?" This presentation will serve to illustrate that there's still plenty of both historic and modern railroad action to capture these days, even though many of our favorites are gone."
